The Vision Cam XM is a computer vision system in a very compact housing for image processing tasks, which are located between the Vision Sensor PV3 and the industrial PCs of the Vision Box family in terms of performance requirements. These smart embedded vision solutions are suitable for almost every type of image processing application, which can be solved with an area scan camera, from code reading to 3D scans. Thanks to the selection of possible sensors with resolutions from 0.3 to 5 megapixels as well as the free programmability, the Vision Cam XM offers enormous flexibility for use in a wide variety of fields. Great computing power in a compact format

Flexible application options

With the smart camera Vision Cam XM, users have the freedom to choose from five different sensors with resolutions from 0.3 to 5 megapixels. This allows you to adapt your system exactly to the existing conditions. Should the application parameters change over time, for example due to increased process speeds or increasing accuracy requirements, a problem-free changeover to a structurally identical model with higher resolution or more computing power can be implemented quickly and easily. The flexibility of the intelligent camera Vision Cam XM is also evident in the choice of the Debian 10 operating system and the connection option to suitable M12 and C-mount lenses.

Due to the options in the selection of sensors, computing power, lenses and the flexible operating system, the industrial camera Vision Cam XM is suitable for use in almost all applications that can be solved on the basis of one single camera, and covers numerous applications in a wide variety of fields of application from code reading to sophisticated 3D scanning.

Real Time Communication Controller

For the perfect control of all components, the image processing camera Vision Cam XM uses an integrated Real Time Communication Controller (RTCC). The latter, among other things, enables exact synchronization of conveyor belt speeds with the image processing system´s acquisition speed, the lighting control and other components of the vision system. The RTCC is an integral part of the Vision Cam XM and enables simple, reliable communication between the camera and the higher-level system.

Easy program development with ViewIT

In addition to the available selection of sensors and computing power, the ARM-based camera Vision Cam XM also gives users full freedom with regard to programming. By using the ViewIT software platform, the user has three basic options for creating his program. Image processing beginners can use the functionality supplied in ViewIT and adapt them to their own tasks with little effort. The integrated examples cover common subtasks such as pattern recognition, edge detection or thresholding, and thus enable rapid progress in development.

Anyone who already has experience with development environments and image processing libraries such as Python, C ++ based tools or Halcon can easily integrate them into ViewIT as plugins. For the few applications where the range of functions of ViewIT is not sufficient, it is also possible to develop your own application in your preferred programming language using the IMAGO SDK.

The particular strength of ViewIT is that this framework automatically takes over all basic image processing functions such as image acquisition, I/O handling and many other tasks, so that developers can fully concentrate on solving the actual imaging task.
