Vision Cam EB
Event-driven image processing instead of traditional frames: The Vision Cam EB detects motion with microsecond precision – ideal for fast processes, extreme lighting changes, and limited data budgets. As a compact event based camera, it brings cutting-edge sensor technology into industrial environments.
Description
The Vision Cam EB from IMAGO Technologies is a compact embedded vision system with an innovative event based sensor. Instead of capturing full images at fixed frame rates, the event camera only registers relevant changes – exactly when light intensity changes at individual pixels.
This principle is based on the Prophesee Event-based Vision Sensor (EVS), modeled after human vision: relevant motion is detected, redundant image data is ignored.
The result is a system optimized for applications where speed, low data load, and extreme contrast conditions are critical. With its integrated ARM processor, industrial interfaces, and compact housing, the Vision Cam EB is easy to integrate into existing applications – without the need for a high-performance PC.
Advantages
Capture of extremely fast motion
With up to 30 million events per second, the Vision Cam EB reliably captures highly dynamic processes in real time. No movement is lost between two frames – perfect for high-frequency tasks.
Reduced data load, full information
Instead of continuous frame capture, each pixel transmits an event only when relevant changes occur. This drastically reduces data volume, minimizing computing and memory requirements.
Wide dynamic range up to 120 dB
Even under extreme brightness differences, such as welding, the Vision Cam EB delivers usable results. The dynamic range clearly outperforms conventional CCD or CMOS sensors.
Microsecond-precise timestamps
All captured events are provided with exact timestamps – ideal for synchronized rejection systems or precise process monitoring.
Compact, industry-grade system design
With dimensions starting at 50 × 105 × 30 mm, the Event-based Camera fits easily into space-constrained installations. Interfaces such as Gigabit Ethernet, digital I/Os, and RS-232 simplify system integration.
Lower system costs through lean architecture
Thanks to the drastically reduced data load, a less powerful computing unit is sufficient. This lowers overall system costs – without loss of quality.
Fast start with ViewIT Framework
The ViewIT software environment enables rapid implementation of applications such as counting, vibration analysis, or motion tracking – without additional programming effort outside of image processing.
Applications
The Vision Cam EB unfolds its full potential where traditional image processing systems reach their limits – for example in high-speed, variable-light, or time-critical environments.
Target Group
The Vision Cam EB is aimed primarily at OEMs, machine builders, and integrators who want to integrate fast and flexible image processing into their systems – without high hardware costs. It is particularly beneficial for users with requirements for high dynamics, real-time capability, and efficiency.
Typical application areas of event based cameras include production machines, inspection stations, transport solutions, and smart infrastructures – anywhere conventional cameras are no longer sufficient.

Technology: Event Based Cameras Explained
The EVS sensor in the Vision Cam EB works fundamentally differently from conventional sensors: each pixel operates autonomously and sends a signal only when local light intensity changes. Instead of fixed image cycles, this creates dynamic event streams – precisely aligned to relevant motion.
This principle is inspired by human vision and offers decisive advantages: less data, higher speed, and robust detection under variable lighting conditions.

Architecture & Interfaces of the Vision Cam EB
The Vision Cam EB is equipped with a powerful ARM Cortex-A15 CPU, supports Ethernet with 1000 Mbit/s, and provides RS-232 as well as opto-isolated digital inputs and outputs. Its compact design and robustness make it the ideal solution for edge computing and embedded applications in industrial environments.
FAQs on the Event Camera Vision Cam EB
What distinguishes event cameras from traditional cameras?
Event cameras capture only relevant image changes, while traditional cameras record full images in fixed cycles. This saves data, reduces computing load, and increases speed.
How does the event sensor of the Vision Cam EB work?
Each pixel independently detects changes in brightness and sends event data – without centralized timing or complete frames. This allows the camera to react instantly to changes.
How does integration with ViewIT work?
ViewIT is a graphical framework that includes ready-to-use modules for common tasks such as counting or vibration analysis. Custom algorithms can also be added.
What interfaces are available on the event based camera?
The Vision Cam EB offers Gigabit Ethernet, RS-232, and digital I/Os (2 inputs, 4 outputs), making it fully industry-ready.
